To clean your belly button use your finger or a washcloth to rub some warm soapy water into it which will get rid of any dirt grime and lint. Don t pick at the area as it can cause further irritation or bleeding. Make sure it completely clean and dry before putting on your clothes. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide as these can dry out your skin and irritate the area around the piercing.
Avoid tugging on the piercing. Thoroughly wash your hands with antibacterial soap then apply a couple of drops of the lavender oil to a clean cotton bud and rub gently around the piercing. This mixture is easy to make stir one fourth of a teaspoon of sea salt into 8 ounces of boiled water that has been cooled. After washing makes sure there is no water or soap left inside your belly button.

Work slowly and don t remove the ring at all during the cleaning process. You can use cotton balls soaked with the solution for cleansing. Remember to make sure your hands are clean before touching the piercing.
Use your hand mirror and place it at the bottom of your belly button to aid you in the search for any dirt or dried up discharge that may have built up around the area. Also take maximum caution in cleaning the piercing in the first few times. Wash the piercing with a basic soap with no dyes or extra chemicals that is not antibacterial soap once or twice a day. Then gently clean the site with the basic soap and water.
Your piercer may recommend you do the following. Use a cotton swab or q tip lightly dipped in warm water to remove the dirt. Lavender oil is a great natural product which promotes healing and reduces swelling and tenderness around the piercing. You should clean your piercing twice a day using a sea salt solution.
