The functions of the cerebral cortex are to receive sensory input interpret the senses and coordinate motor control. Our ability to produce movements such as picking up small objects are linked to the proper working of the motor cortex. The motor cortex is the region of the cerebral cortex involved in the planning control and execution of voluntary movements.
