What Is The Difference Between Emo And Goth

Goths often see their subculture as a way of life while emo is often considered by critics as a phase or a fad.
Basically both emo and goth are forms of experimental underground music and hardcore punk. The main thing to remember when looking at the differences of emo and goth is that emo isn t meant to be dark but goth is. Goth has darker themes they are interested more in witchcraft vampires black magic. They usually wear black and have long hair.
Their musical influences are basically the same with punk as the root. Goth is more of a style than a personality. Emo was originally a subgenre of post hardcore in the 1980s. Emo rockers preach release of primal energy with abstract and chaotic sub structures while goth are recognized by emphasis on darkness in their tone dress hair dyes make up emotion etc.
Their themes deal more with different emotions. The difference between emo and goth is that the former pertains to a subculture that follows the emotional hardcore subgenre. Emo has emotional themes. They re probably pretty pale too.

Emo has stayed close to home when it comes to the musical influence while goth has veered off towards electronica. Emo also refers to a performer or follower of emo music. Emo is a type of traditional hard rock music with personal and emotional lyrics. They usually wear really skinny jeans too.
Goth also refers to a performer or follower of goth music. Goth is also associated with horror and religious imagery. Emo was often associated with suicide self hurt and social rejection which emo bands usually deny. Emo is a softer version of goth.
