As a facebook user you have the option to delete facebook but you may prefer to deactivate your account instead.

When you deactivate your facebook account facebook does not send out any notification whatsoever. A deactivated account is temporarily removed from the social network but you can.
Deactivating your account does not fully delete it. You can decide to come back to the platform and reactivate whenever you want to. If you deactivate your account we save the information in your account ex. No one will be able to view your facebook profile.
Similarly if you delete facebook your account will vanish. Upon deactivating your facebook account you will immediately lose any admin privileges you had for your facebook pages and groups. However it is possible to delete your account permanently with no option for recovery. There is slight catch according to facebook even after deactivating your facebook account your friends can still invite you to events and tag you and you get this notification directly to your mailbox.

Press alt to open this menu alt to open this menu. But full deletion won t happen for a few days because the social network gives you some leeway. The pages and groups themselves will still work provided there. Your information isn t gone it s just hidden.
To opt out click on the check box as shown in the picture below before deactivating you facebook account.
