Once a snap or chat has been received by your friend at some point you should see the opened icon next to it. An arrow on blue color sent chat. Sending them a pic will show up with a red arrow and sending them text shows up with a blue arrow. It s similar to facetime or skype but snapchat style where everything is deleted by snapchat unless there is info that you save.
Open blue colored arrow chat is opened. Your friend opened your chat message. This friend sent you a chat message. Usually this arrow is outlined in blue showing that the snap has been delivered and next to it will say whether it was received and opened.
