The word rapture means to be carried away the word rapture is not found in the bible. It comes from the latin word rapare which means seize snatch or take away the term rapture is used to refer to the faithful believers being taken up to meet christ in the air as described in this passage written by the apostle paul. The foolish virgins are the ones who will be left behind. In his end times parable of the wise and foolish virgins matthew 25 1 13 jesus shows us clearly that not all believers will be raised up in the rapture.

To any open minded student of scripture it says followers of christ will be raptured out of this earth shortly before the tribulation period begins that is described in the book of revelation. However the event it describes certainly is found throughout scripture the apostle paul predicted that those who are in christ will be carried away or raptured to heaven at the coming of the lord a clear reference to christ s second coming. In this view the rapture which is the transformation and catching up of all christians dead or alive to meet christ in the air will be secret for it will be unknown to the world of unbelievers at the time of its happening.
