What Does The Bible Say About Being Offended

Wise king solomon advises that we should not take seriously everything people say about us and that is true whether it is good or bad.
We put no obstruction in anybody s way we give no offense in anything so that no fault may be found and our ministry blamed and discredited now here are a few scriptural thoughts on overcoming an offense. Normally when we think about being offended we have in mind something that someone did that we did not like or upset our feelings. There are examples in the scriptures of people who had opportunities to be offended but chose not to be offended. In matthew 24 10 jesus says one of the signs of the last days would be in the fact that many would be offended.
The bible has a lot to say about offences. Do not take to heart all the things that people say lest you hear your servant cursing you. This is why jesus gave his strong statement in luke 17 1 2. Also do not take to heart everything people say lest you hear your servant cursing you ecclesiastes 7 21.
However what the lord had in mind was that which entices a person to commit sin. Let him know that your desire is to hear what he has to say and that you are. Proverbs 19 11 the discretion of a man deferreth his anger. Not being offended by an obvious offense is a reflection of the depth of our character.

Proverbs 18 19 says a brother offended is harder to win than a strong city and contentions are like the bars of a castle jesus taught. Before you go to the person who has offended you ask god to help you to be open to hear the other person s heart. This is addressed in the bible in the book of ecclesiastes.
Joseph jacob s son had opportunity to be offended in his brothers but he chose not to be offended. I ll go to war against satan and his intention to destroy my relationship with my lord and with the people around me. 2 corinthians 6 3 in the amplified bible says. You have heard that it was said you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
