What Temperature To Add Fragrance To Soy Wax

Heat wax in a double boiler system to 180 f 185 f. Most sources i ve read recommend between 175 185 f. Adding fragrance to your soy candle wax depends on what kind of wax you are using and what brand. Now you may be wondering what is a flash point the flash point is the temperature at which the fragrance becomes volatile and may catch alight.

Going above this temperature may ruin your wax. This temperature will allow the fragrance oil to blend fully with the soy wax.

At this point i like to add my color to the wax. Mix fragrance oil at 185 f. When the wax is at the optimal temperature of 185ºf the fragrance will be evenly dispersed throughout the wax ensuring a consistent cold and hot throw. Generally between 50 55 degrees but this will vary based on the wax you are using.

Heat the soy wax to 155 160 degrees. Adding fragrance oil at 185 f ensures that the oil properly binds to the wax. This is the optimal temperature for the fragrance and the wax to bind together which will provide the best fragrance throw in your finished candle. Most fragrances should be added between 175 185 f.

If you add it too cool it will not incorporate with the wax very well. We recommend pouring our 100 soy wax at 110 degrees fahrenheit. Make sure your wax has been removed from the heat source before adding fragrance oils. Add fragrance oil at 185fº and stir gently and thoroughly with the melted wax.
