What Does The Surface Of Neptune Look Like
Camila Farah
Neptune like uranus is an ice giant.
Neptune s surface can therefore be said to be composed of about 80 hydrogen and 19 helium with a trace amount of methane. Neptune is a gas giant or some refer to it as an ice giant. The surface we see isn t a solid surface at all but rather a mixture of 80 hydrogen 19 helium a little methane and some trace elements. The blue colour is caused by the dim light reflecting off the methane gasses.
After a few years of being discovered by the voyagers this spot disappeared and in the year 1995 it appeared again in the northern hemisphere of the planet neptune. Because neptune is a gas giant it has no solid. Neptune has a thick windy atmosphere. However this spot does not have stability in its appearance.
Neptune s surface is a blueish colour resembling the oceans on earth. Due to its smaller size and higher concentrations of volatiles relative to jupiter and saturn neptune much like uranus is often referred to as an ice giant a subclass of a giant planet. One day on neptune goes by in 16 hours. It s very cold so it s more like ice crystals that become more dense closer to its core.
